With TONI ERDMANN’s Spirit Award for Best Foreign Film and slated US remake with Jack Nicholson, German cinema is in great shape. Springtime in New York brings fresh films to downtown with KINO!2017 delivering twelve feature-length films and guests from Germany straight to the Sunshine Cinemas.

KINO! offers a wide variety of styles, genres and guests, ranging from historical drama PAULA opening the festival to ferocious indie fave WILD and the inspiring eco doc POWER TO CHANGE – THE ENERGY REVOLUTION. Young talent is showcased in the Next Generation Short Tiger program a free screening of short films.

Other highlights include a restored version of Fritz Lang’s DESTINY (DER MÜDE TOD) with live music by DJ Raphäel Marrionneau and a conversation at Deutsches Haus at NYU between actress Carla Juri (PAULA) and film scholar Noah Isenberg.
