A mighty fine new indie group heading out of Leeds, The Mexanines are truly exciting. With real edge, excellent production and top notch songwriting, their new track 'Rocket' marks them out as real contenders. They are a natural successor to some of the top UK bands of recent years – managing to sound fresh but also familiar at the same time.

Katie Mac taking Liverpool by storm In just four months on the Liverpool music scene, 20 year old Katie Mac has made quite a splash. Set to open Liverpool International Music Festival on August 30th, Katie Mac and her band have already shown they have what it takes by headlining a BBC Merseyside event and impressing during Liverpool's Sound City Festival. Not bad for roughly 16 weeks' work.
Fresh from the Black Country, pop-rocking 5-piece EofE have already started to shake things up after a hot reception at Download Festival. Next up is their explosive debut album – self-titled (Oct 9th, Cream Records) – which features this killer of a track. Like the title say, it's time to 'Wake Up'.
An instrumental (mostly) duo from the North of England, MetaQuorum are duo Dmitry Ermakov and Koos Van Der Velde. Both from overseas (Russia and the Netherlands respectively), the pair bring with them to the UK their sense of mischief and somewhat anti-establishment ideals.
The Unravelling are a metal/industrial duo from Calgary, Alberta Canada whose sophomore album, released just a few days ago on August 7, is a work which has been four years in the making. Tear a Hole in the Collective Vision almost didn't happen, however, due to vocalist and lyricist Steve Moore's being sidelined by cancer in 2011.
Having recently changed their name from Heavy Petting Zoo, indie-surf-garage rockers Beach Fatigue are back with their first single of their new era. 'Drunken Grrls' will be released on October 30th via Kool Girl Records, and you can hear it below.
