All Stars Tour comes to The Palladium

The All Stars Tour has steadily become an institution of sorts in certain genres of heavy music. Year after year, it produces an eclectic collection of popular up-and-coming bands. On July 20 Worcester's Palladium will get to experience the tour for itself and there a few noteworthy mixups this time around.

George Street Bike Challenge 2013

The 12th annual George Street Bike Challenege returns Sunday, July 21, 2013. George Street, connecting Main and Harvard streets in Worcester, is a 500-foot hill with an average elevation grade of 18 percent. The annual race celebrates the training ground of the late 1899 world champion cyclist Major Taylor.

Gift of music for at-risk youth

The perception of the classical music scene does not depict a lively one. It is not uncommon for the genre to be considered stuffy and for an older and wealthier crowd of elitists. However, the Worcester Chamber Music Society (WCMS) is making leaps and bounds in removing that stigma. Forming a new partnership with Bridging the Gap, the two organizations will team up to provide high-risk youth with the opportunity to learn and rehearse with a pre-professional string quartet from the renowned Boston Conservatory and share the stage for a concluding concert.

Two Minutes With...Terek Mroczkowski

After graduating from college in 2008, Terek Mroczkowski took over as co-owner of the family-owned business Ted's Package Store in Charlton City, Mass. Established by his father Ted in 1978, the liquor store will celebrate its grand reopening on Saturday, July 20 from 1-4 p.m. after a yearlong $3.2 million renovations project.
