We have great news! The People's Rights Amendment is picking up crucial early support. We now have a Republican Member of Congress, Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina, joining Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) in sponsoring our Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which will end corporate personhood and overturn the disastrous Citizens United decision.
This bi-partisan team of champions on Capitol Hill means we've cleared another key threshold to advancing this Amendment: bi-partisan support will be essential in moving any bill toward serious consideration in Congress. And, as our polling has demonstrated, there is widespread support across the political spectrum for a Constitutional Amendment that makes it clear that corporations do not have the same rights as people.
Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Steve Cohen (D-TN), Bob Filner (D-CA) and Louise Slaughter (D-NY) have also joined Reps. McGovern and Jones in co-sponsoring the People's Rights Amendment. We're really on a roll.
In addition, Rep. McGovern and I went on the Dylan Ratigan show on MSNBC last week to discuss the People's Rights Amendment, bringing a new level of visibility to our campaign. Here's the clip:
With all this attention, our base of support for the People's Rights Amendment is also growing dramatically -- by more than 20% in just the past two weeks. This shows how ready people are to make a difference by signing onto our campaign, as soon as they hear about it.
We hope you'll take a moment to watch the video, and then spread the word to your friends, and encourage them to sign on here: http://j.mp/OurRights.
Thanks so much for being part of our historic campaign to restore our democracy to the people.
Sincerely,
- John

P.S.: But wait, there's more: some artists in L.A. have even recorded a fun music video calling for a Constitutional Amendment to overturn Citizens United and end corporate personhood. Check it out: http://youtu.be/Zo9EEnM4jBY
